Refurbished machines are basically just serviced. If you bought a used car that was serviced, it would probably have new brake pads and tires, a fresh oil change, new windshield wiper blades, etc... But it would still have the same engine with the same miles, the same problems, and it would still break down.
A remanufactured machine, however, should be thought of more like a Certified Pre-Owned car. Everything worn gets replaced, all the moving parts are new, and the motor gets completely and totally serviced -- so that it's as good as new, and backed up by a warranty, at a fraction of the cost.
